Younger Brothers History

The Foundation
For the Younger Brothers family, construction wasn’t just a trade, it was a calling; an art that flowed through their veins. As a young boy, James “Jim” Younger III worked with his father building homes. At the impressive age of sixteen, Jim was already earning good money doing carpentry jobs. After working his way through Phoenix College, opportunity knocked. Design Master Homes offered him a job and the opportunity to get his own business off the ground. Jim III grabbed the chance and with four skill saws, a drill and Karmen Ghia, Jim III and his father created Younger Brothers Construction.

The Framework
25 years later, a company that began as a home office with five employees has grown to a large corporation with more than 1,000 employees and gross sales exceeding $125 million annually. In addition, Younger Brothers Construction is now just one facet of Younger Brother Companies, a family that includes: Younger Brothers Components, Younger Brothers Door & Trim, Younger Brothers Development, Younger Brothers Pretreat & Home Services and Liberty Lumber.

History of the Horse & Rider

Our logo, the horse & rider, has proudly represented the Younger name since we began in 1975. The horse & rider actually came about as a result of a somewhat infamous family heritage. In the lore of the Wild West, the Younger Brothers Gang - Cole, James, John and Bob had somewhat of a colorful past. Admittedly, depending on who you ask, the Younger brothers were either heroes or outlaws. Regardless, the James Younger Gang was known for their unity, strength, pride and immense loyalty. That loyalty carried through to each other, their family, their associates and their friends. Today, the Younger family is much the same, of course, without the “outlaw” part.
