1. New hire does Field Interview with Foreman or Superintendent. If the field interviewer thinks he or she is a good candidate they are sent to the office to go through the hiring process. Or, in the busy season, an applicant may be answering an ad, therefore they can by-pass the field interview.

2. Recruiter to do the following:

  • Check for proper ID’s. Collect Field Interview sheet if applicable.
  • Applicant fills out Field Skills form to determine their skills.
  • Recruiter explains YBC standards and expectations and explains the wage scale based on their skills.
  • Pre-hire Questionnaire face to face with recruiter.
  • Framing Knowledge Test (for anyone applying for Carpenter level or above). Once the Knowledge Assessment is taken and scored, the results are discussed with applicant.
  • Motivation Test. If applicant gets respectable score he/she progresses to the drug test and fills out hire packet.
  • Drug test.
  • Fill out hire packet.
  • Once hired, Foreman or Super will review Field Skills forms to determine the validity of stated skills.

3. If applicant passes all required testing and is hired, he/she is given a YBC Manual explaining our culture and procedures. The applicant will then be scheduled to attend the next orientation where he/she will be oriented to the YBC family and culture.
